McMinnville Breakfast Rotary Club
Service Activities
Romanian Foster Home

For the past six years, our Club has provided approximately
one-half of the annual operating costs for a foster home in Romania ($6,000
annually). The home houses 8-10 children. The support is expected
to continue indefinitely.
Breakfast Rotary Feeds Hungry Kids (R.E.A.C.H. - Rotarians
Alleviates Child Hunger)

This project began in 2006 and was awarded a District Simplified Grant. In cooperation with a local
elementary school, our Club is helping to alleviate childhood hunger in our
community by putting food directly into children's hands in a managed,
cost-effective manner. These are children who come to school Monday
mornings ravenously hungry because, for various reasons (absentee parents,
parents who do not care, families with extreme financial hardships) they have
limited access to food during weekends. McMinnville Breakfast Rotary
provides 50 bags of nutritionally sound food items that do not need
refrigeration and the children can safely open and serve to themselves.
The school has identified the children in need, and discreetly distributes the
food bags every Friday afternoon. Breakfast Rotarians pack the 50
bags each Tuesday morning prior to the regular meeting. This year,
Breakfast Rotary is partnering with the First Presbyterian Church on this
project. The picture above shows Kay Dillon, the Breakfast Rotary chairman
of the REACH program with our District 6780 Governor, Robin Textor,
packing bags of food along with other members.
